Pictism are basically a collective of Edinburgh musicians
playing Scottish and Irish songs and tunes. The line up varies in size
according to the venue and material can often be contemporary on
occasion. They have been playing now since early 2006 have already
established regular work at a few public houses throughout the glorious regions
of this fair island.
Their sets usually consist of Scots and Irish songs and also the odd English folk song (great songs are generally found everywhere). The song's they perform can either be from within the last couple of hundred years such as Robert Burns or Robert Tannahill songs or the may be of an older tradition that is of an unknown origin usually part of a long forgotten oral tradition. They continue to play all over the country so be sure to keep an eye on their MySpace page.
